for those of you who frequented the studio at 3rd and walnut/muhammad ali, there was a wild receptionist at the desk back in the day, sally mcdonald. sally left this world this past sunday. she was integral to a lot of what went on there, and will be sorely missed by those of us who knew her. she made many friends at and for wklo.

Sorry to hear about Sally. I did not know her, but can certainly appreciate the role that receptionists played at their posts in great radio stations like WKLO.
During the early '70s, Marsha Lane held that post at rival WAKY and was the first line of defense against kids like me getting our foot into the studios, but she was also our friend and an important link in getting to know what went on in the station as well as letting us hang out in the lobby. I'm sure that Sally had done the same for the kids at WKLO.
(Marsha Lane can be heard in the infamous "WAKY SHOUT" at 79WAKY.COM)

yes, i best remember "the girl from ipanema" with waist-length dark hair at waky, harriet eichenhof. was that her name? used to date mike love of the beach boys. those were heady times...i worked at tiff's records and one of my jobs to to escort folks like paul revere and the raiders to waky and 'klo for on-air interviews. those were the days!

Marsha Lane was already in place at WAKY when I became old enough to travel downtown to visit the station. I never met Harriet Eichenhof (if that was her name) but there are a few pics of The Beach Boys appearing with WAKY jocks, so it's not difficult to imagine that she may have dated Mike Love at the time.
And what an interesting job you had at Tiff Records, escorting groups like Paul Revere & the Raiders to the stations. There's a photo of Mark Lindsey posing with WAKY's Mason Lee Dixon (David Bratcher) on Page 3 (at the time of this writing) of the Photo Section on the WAKY site. That photo is from the mid to late '60s, so chances are, you were the one that escorted Mark and the boys to the stations before the show that night.

Yes Harriot Eikenholz was at the front desk at WAKY in the mid 60's. When Harriot left the Mighty 790, Carrie Maxadon was at the front desk for a while as I can remember.

At least you can spell it, I can't even pronounce it. LOL!!
Okay, that was so wrong.
By the way, Ben. I have always associated you with WAKY during its Kentucky Home Life Building days, but there is a photo of you at WKLO's transmitter studio. At the time of this writing, the photo was at the top of page 4 of WKLO's photo section.
Which station came first and how long were you at each? Did you know Sally McDonald, the receptionist for WKLO, or were you at WAKY during that time?
