I will admit I only listened to the Big 1080 exclusively for about 6-7 months in '72 until I discovered WAKY, afterwhich I tuned to 'KLO if WAKY played a song I didn't like, but it's hard to say who my favorite jock was. It's a two way, maybe three way tie, with Gary Major, Bo Brady, and Chuck Brady. Of course my all time fave dj is the Duke, but I didn't find him until 790...don't think he was at KLO when I first tuned in.

:)I have to say thats a tough question..just remembering who was the DJ's back then,,much less what station.. I think the Duke , Bill Bailey was my all time favorite, there were so many good ones.. There was one named Randolph I think, then a guy named Majors..I'll get back to this with some in time,,I have to recall my youthful days..

How about Sam Scully? He had a great voice and ran a tight show. Okay, Okay... Sam Scully was actually some form of pre-recorded jock that got his name from the Scully brand reel-to-reel tape deck that the show was originating from. But, he did have a good show.

Gary Major was one of my faves(eventhough he made me mad one day, when he did school closings on WKLO, and there was no Bullitt county on that list ), I liked Bo Brady. I liked Jackson Smith alot also (when I see him doing a commecial for his dental services, I ask myself, "would you really want a former WKLO jock, working on your teeth? ) , seems like Jackson could talk a mile a minute. ;D BTW John, will you be getting any Jackson Smith airchecks?

As far as us getting any Jackson Smith airchecks, he has been asked. So, we hope so.

As was noted in this thread, Jackson Smith could fill an intro at the rate of 100 words per second. He was, in that way, equal to WAKY's Coyote Calhoun. I was at WQMF when Jackson joined us under his real name of Gary Griffin. However, in order to be more in line with QMF's AOR format (at the time) he had to tone his high speed delivery down to a mere 25 words per second. ;D
