During the late 1980s, as I would drive from Louisville to visit my dad in Somerset, Kentucky, I would pass through Danville and tune in to WKLO. This was the station that Johnny Randolph, and another fellow (said to be Wayne Perkey) supposedly built from the ground up and acquired the call letters of WKLO.
As a low powered AM country station it was a far cry from the big 1080 that we remember growing up with in Louisville. But, there was just something really cool in listening to this station and knowing that the calls once belonged to a station that Johnny Randolph, now the owner (still not sure about Wayne Perkey) competed heavily against for years as PD of WAKY.
I've seen indications that Randolph no longer owns the station in Danville, even though he still makes his home there and owns a nearby apartment complex. Does the station still exist and is it still known as WKLO? If not, where are the WKLO call letters today?

I will say this, the WKLO call letters belong in Louisville, ky, on a Louisville station. Even if it wasn't top 40, it would be neat to hear a current station sporting the WKLO call letters.

The WKLO call letters belong to a station licensed to Hardinsburg, Indiana (96.9 FM) which is listed in the Louisville metro. The format is Hot AC.
