OK, I thought I had this one pegged but the recent update to the jingle page has me totally stummped! Didn't the famous W-K-L-O sonovox stab used in the mid to late-60's come from PAMS series 18? LOL I laugh because I have been waiting to hear the Montage jingle from that packge and it wasn't there! Was it, in fact, from some sort of custom packge Terrell Metheny had cooked up via PAMS or is that jingle truly missing? Jingle freaks, like me, would like to know. Always learning in Big Lou, David Stockhoff :0) (Seven-Ninty and out. . .)

What's online is probably not WKLO's total order of Series 18 jingles. For instance, the Sonosig Waltz cut isn't on there, and I've had one person that has told me they heard the Waltz cut on WKLO. So WKLO could have pulled the sonovox "stab" from "It Starts Monday..." Series 18 cut (which isn't here). Or they could have done a custom order. There's a similar sonovox "WKLO" in-the-clear that came as part of the Series 32 order (which IS online here), but it's not the same thing that was used as the "stab" for many years.

Here's the scoop on the SONOVOX "Stab". When setting up the format in Septemeber, '64....I wanted an acappella "stab" and no other jingles. We introduced WKLO as "Clean uncluttered..." and "Jingle free". Jingle companies were reluctant to do one four second acappella jingle, especially since we were down playing jingles. So, I started listening to the jingles on hand at the station and found the sonovox call letters inside some other jingle. I have no idea which series it might have been. I snipped it out. There was always a tad of the original jingle at the beginning and end, but was not heard as we played the stab over songs. Later, we did a full set of jingles with Sonovox at Pams and tried to make a clean new cut of the stab, but couldn't reporoduce it as good as the original. So, now you know the rest of the story. The stab was an excerpt from another jingle, initially intended for temporary use until a better one could be made. And, a better one was never made. God Bless. TM
